Face au dérèglement climatique, il y a urgence: les incendies vont devenir une norme peu enviable dans de nombreuses régions du monde en raison de sécheresses de plus en plus régulières. Pour lutter contre ce phénomène, et à défaut de réelles mesures pour faire baisser la température de la Terre, de plus en plus de pays s'équipent de caméras très particulières, qui utilisent l'intelligence artificielle.

Satellite, capteur IoT, drone, caméra IA : quatre technologies, quatre maillons distincts d'une même chaîne de détection et de gestion des feux de forêt. Les confondre, c'est concevoir un dispositif de surveillance inadapté au territoire. Les articuler correctement, c'est tenir la contrainte opérationnelle qui définit tout le reste — 10 minutes entre le départ de feu et la primo-intervention, au-delà desquelles chaque minute supplémentaire multiplie les moyens nécessaires.

The year 2025 will remain one of the most significant in the recent history of forest fires in France. Marked by repeated heatwaves and episodes of prolonged drought, it has put territories under pressure. Faced with this intensification of risk, the challenges related to detection and intervention strategies have never been so central to controlling fires and limiting their impacts.

Faced with the climate emergency, some territories are becoming real privileged observation points to invent the protection of tomorrow. New Caledonia is one of them. It is there, in the heart of a rich ecosystem but extremely vulnerable to fires, that FireTracking laid the foundations for its development. A demanding field of experimentation that made it possible to design, test and validate a fire detection solution, thanks to artificial intelligence, which is now deployed in metropolitan France.

Each year, Indre-et-Loire faces more than 300 fires. A threat amplified by global warming and the drying up of vegetation. To strengthen its resilience, the department has chosen to set up our AI fire detection system on its territory in order to help the emergency teams in the field.

From October 8 to 10, FireTracking participated in the National Firefighters Congress, an unmissable event for all civil security actors. Alongside AXIONE, we presented our solution for the ultra-early detection of forest fires using artificial intelligence, which has already been successfully deployed in Indre-et-Loire.
