Indre et Loire relies on AI to fight forest fires

The start-up FireTracking, in partnership with Emerton Data and Axione, has developed an early detection system for forest fires based on deep learning algorithms and a network of smart cameras. After a successful test in New Caledonia, the system is currently deployed in Indre-et-Loire to monitor nearly 95% of forest areas and allow rapid intervention by firefighters.

Axione helps FireTracking detect wildfires in Indre-et-Loire

French infrastructure operator Axione has secured a new contract in the Indre-et-Loire department, as part of a consortium created in partnership with French start-up FireTracking and Emerton Group subsidiary Emerton Data, which provides software engineering and AI consulting services. The contract covers the deployment of twelve fire detection points to help local firefighters detect and monitor wildfires in forested areas across Indre-et-Loire’s territory. Axione will bring to the project its expertise in multi-service networks to provide connectivity for FireTracking’s AI-powered detection system, which includes smart connected cameras installed on high points.
