En 2026, la quasi‑totalité des massifs forestiers d’Indre‑et‑Loire sera surveillée contre les départs de feux. L’alerte sera donnée en moins de trois minutes. Pas au moyen d’effectifs de sapeurs‑pompiers déployés sur le terrain mais grâce à des algorithmes. Le conseil départemental et le SDIS d’Indre‑et‑Loire ont fait appel à trois pionniers de l’intelligence artificielle.

Huit start-up et entreprises calédoniennes ont été retenues pour se rendre au plus grand salon européen dans le domaine de l’innovation technologique, VivaTech, du 11 au 14 juin à Paris. Gros plan sur deux d’entre elles, FireTracking, une solution qui détecte et localise les départs de feu et en informe les pompiers, et Visioon, une plateforme qui donne des informations sur les poissons aux visiteurs des aquariums.

Créée en Nouvelle-Calédonie il y a trois ans, cette jeune entreprise innovante utilise l'IA pour détecter les départs de feux de forêt. Après avoir développé son outil au Mont-Dore, FireTracking a conquis de nouveaux marchés dans l'Hexagone. Elle fait partie des huit start-up calédoniennes qui participeront au salon VivaTech, en juin à Paris.

In Indre-et-Loire, AI-powered cameras will monitor forests to detect fires starting in less than three minutes. Twenty-two French departments are now equipped with such equipment.

The start-up FireTracking, in partnership with Emerton Data and Axione, has developed an early detection system for forest fires based on deep learning algorithms and a network of smart cameras. After a successful test in New Caledonia, the system is currently deployed in Indre-et-Loire to monitor nearly 95% of forest areas and allow rapid intervention by firefighters.

French infrastructure operator Axione has secured a new contract in the Indre-et-Loire department, as part of a consortium created in partnership with French start-up FireTracking and Emerton Group subsidiary Emerton Data, which provides software engineering and AI consulting services. The contract covers the deployment of twelve fire detection points to help local firefighters detect and monitor wildfires in forested areas across Indre-et-Loire’s territory. Axione will bring to the project its expertise in multi-service networks to provide connectivity for FireTracking’s AI-powered detection system, which includes smart connected cameras installed on high points.

Faced with the resurgence of fires, the departmental council is entrusting AI with the automatic detection and location of fires in natural areas in the territory.

In order to help firefighters intervene quickly in areas prone to forest fires, FireTracking has developed a SaaS solution combining several AI models and camera networks that transmit information on the territories concerned live. After an initial successful deployment in New Caledonia, the start-up is heading for Indre-et-Loire where it plans to install its devices on 12 sites to monitor 95% of the forest areas in the department.

This young company identifies and precisely locates incipient fires to reduce the number of false alarms and facilitate the work of firefighters. She has just won her first contract in mainland France with the department of Indre-et-Loire.
